Welcome friends! I’m thrilled to be participating in the free Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge 2021. I’ve been soaking up all the gorgeous blocks I’ve seen on Instagram! Have you joined the fun? Please do – everyone is invited! Every Tuesday (except the last Tuesday of the month) starting February 2nd to June 22nd, Riley Blake designers are sharing a darling 10″ finished quilt block they’ve designed that’ll collectively come together in the end to create a fabulous (secret) quilt with all the blocks. 16 blocks in total! So much fun, right! Get the scoop on how to sew along and download the free quilt blocks here.
Today I’m joining the fun and sharing my Butterfly Block for the RBD Challenge. Butterflies are one of my favorite little creatures – they’re just so cheerful and sweet. I thought this would be a fun block to make and add to the final quilt.

The fabric requirements and instructions for making the Butterfly Block can be found on the Riley Blake website here along with all the quilt blocks shared so far in the challenge. Each block finishes in 10 x 10″. You can also download the PDF pattern of my Butterfly Block here as well.

I used fabric from my Bluebirds on Roses collection with Riley Blake Designs to create my Butterfly Block. Inspired by our spring weather and blooming flowers here in AZ!
All the blocks in the challenge are unique and beautiful. Don’t miss them! I’m so excited to participate and see all the beautiful blocks being shared. If you’re sewing along, please share your creations with us on Instagram using #RBDBlockChallenge #rileyblakedesigns #iloverileyblake and tag @rileyblakedesigns and I’d love to see your Butterfly Block @elealutz

Have a wonderful time sewing along. Can’t wait to see your blocks!
