There’s been some exciting stuff going on behind the scenes in preparation for my upcoming book, Pretty Playtime Quilts. It’s been so fun to work with the publishers (It’s Sew Emma) on all the details that go into making a book, especially a pattern book. A truly wonderful journey to experience and I am forever curious how things are made (fabric, paper, books — I’m fascinated by the creation of it all!) so it’s really neat to see the book come together and just how many helping hands it takes to make it happen.
One of the fun things that I got to see recently was this digitally printed quilt created by It’s Sew Emma for a show this past Fall (since my Strawberry Biscuit fabric won’t arrive until spring … sigh. Digital is the way to create, test + sample patterns for now … while we wait). To my surprise this gorgeous quilt arrived at my doorstep and I nearly fell off my chair. How thrilling it was to see my Garden Fairy Quilt Sampler (one of the quilt projects in the book) in true size and on cotton. Eeep! It was a pinch-me moment for sure.
I also took note of this sweet tag hanging on the quilt. And … oh back up … did I mention I’m a saver? My husband might say I’m a hoarder of mementos, treasures, paper + fabric bits, etc. But, I call it documenting lol and I keep these special bits for my scrapbook, my kids scrapbooks … life inspiration and documenting special moments. So my eye noticed this adorable tag and I love it! It’s a snapshot of the book cover. Sweet, right?! What you might find interesting about this book cover, too, are all the details that went into creating it with It’s Sew Emma, e.g., what project will be on the cover, what font to use, what colors … it’s been a fun ride. I really love what we selected so far (this is only a mockup) and can’t wait to see it live as a real book. I just might keel over with joy!
The same day I received this gorgeous sample quilt, I received a very sweet bunny pin bowl from my pal Kim of Robot Mom Sews. She makes the sweetest things (love her darling shop), including this sweet pin bowl. Pink and a bunny. Just doesn’t get cuter. If you look closely, Kim also made those sweet donut pins. Oh gosh — so cute, right?!
If you’d like to learn more about Pretty Playtime Quilts, head over to the Fat Quarter Shop to get the details and grab a copy (for a limited time) of my free Little Swan Mini quilt pattern with your pre-order. This is a really fun + quick sew (the fabric designs are from my upcoming Strawberry Biscuit range. Oh can’t wait!) and the sweet little swan + heart appliqué adds an extra dash of sweetness. I want to make a BIG girl version for me.
I also want to send a big shout out to a few of the other shops currently taking pre-orders, including: Pretty Fabrics & Trims and The Quilt Ranch — please stop by and send them some love and excitement for the book! And, please tell your local quilt shops about Pretty Playtime Quilts! If I missed any shops, please send me a note so I can add the shop to the list (at service {at} elealutzdesign.com). We’re planning some fun activities with the book and I’d truly love for YOU to be a part of it. I appreciate and am so endlessly grateful for all the kind notes, cheers and support for this book! Thank you sweet friends. I will keep you updated as the months get closer. I can. hardly. wait. xx Elea
