Hey there. Happy 4th of July weekend! Hope you’re staying cool and doing something fun and relaxing. I get to spend the weekend packing for a big move next week. Meh. Packing is no fun, but excited to share that my husband and I have decided to do something insanely crazy and build a home. Now THAT I am really excited for and will be sharing more of this craziness soon!
While you’re enjoying the long weekend, I wanted to share a really exciting quilt along that starts next week (July 8th) with the Fat Quarter Shop. This is my first quilt along, and joining the Fat Quarter Shop on this is a dream come true (pinch me!!). There is a page set up at the Fat Quarter Shop blog with all the details, including kits for the fabrics, too. You can find that page here. I would love LOVE if you could join us? We’ll be celebrating Christmas in July no less – and I could use a little reprieve from the hot weather here + a bonus start on Christmas sewing. How about you?
Each week, starting July 8th, you can find a block pattern (see a peek below) at the Fat Quarter Shop blog so you can sew along. The patterns will be free for a limited time (oh extra bonus yay!!). I hope you will join us?! Please do share with any of your quilty-friends that might enjoy sewing along, too.
I am also soooo overjoyed to share that some of my favorite designers and quilters (in awe of these insanely talented ladies!) will be joining us for the quilt along. Those gems, include:
Sedef of Down Grape Vine Lane (@downgrapevinelane)
Nadra of Ellis & Higgs (@ellisandhiggs)
Tina of Emily Ann’s Closet (@emilyannskloset)
Greg of Grey Dogwood Studio (@greydogwoodstudio)
Jessie of Messy Jesse (@messyjesse1)
Melissa of Oh How Sweet (@ohhowsweetco)
Kristyne of Pretty By Hand @prettybyhand)
Kerry of Very Kerry Berry (@verykerryberry)
Lisa of Vintage Modern Quilts (@vintagemodernquilts)
Erin of Why Not Sew (@whynotsewquilts)
Renee of Sewn With Grace (@sewnwithgrace)
We will actively be sharing and following the sew along on Instagram so you can find us all there, too. I’m on instagram @eleautz and the Fat Quarter Shop @fatquartershop. The instagram handles for the talented bunch joining us are above, too. If you’ll be sewing with us, please tag me so I can join the fun with you. Seeing what you make is the most FUN of all!! Hope to see you over there! xoxo
I made the tree block today but used 2.5 inch strips.
Draw a diagonal 2.5 or 3 inches down (if using 3 inch measurements)
When you use these stripes you don’t have to have fraction background rectangles, Just leave the strips and cut the length you want.
Note, when I used 2.5 inch strips the block measures 8.5 and I made it 11x 8.5 and I’ll make a table runner out of this trial tree block.
thanks for the quilt along:)
