Welcome friends! I’m super excited to share with you my new fabric collection with Poppie Cotton called, My Favorite Things. This collection is shipping to stores this month. Today I am kicking off a blog tour showcasing all the colorful prints in this collection. I’ve included lots and lots of photos. Be sure to read all the way until the end. I’ve posted links to all the wonderful creators joining me on the fabric tour – you won’t want to miss a day! I’ve also got a few surprises in store (wink).
The idea for this collection came from a childhood song that I cherish, My Favorite Things, by Julie Andrews. If you haven’t heard this song, take a moment and enjoy it! It’s full of lovely lyrics and imagery. It will make your heart happy!
I wanted to create a fabric collection of all My Favorite Things. The little things in life that make us smile. For me, those things include playful pups, little birds, soft bunnies, lots of cake, tea in pretty teacups, mountains of colorful fabric, ice cream, love letters, charming roses and so much more. These are My Favorite Things. I hope you love them, too!
This collection includes 7 prints in 3 colorways (21 sweet colors to play with) and a darling cheater panel in 2″ squares.
Our Holland Lop bunny even found his way into this collection. You may have spotted a peek of him on my Instagram page last week. Soft bunnies are certainly on my list of favorite things!
I’m sharing a mini quilt project with you today created with My Favorite Things. It’s one of the most requested appliqué designs on my blog back when I did a larger quilt with the same motif. Butterflies! On top of my list of favorite things.
This mini is so fun to make and can easily be adapted into a pillow or another home decor item. The blocks are made with 4 1/2″ squares (4″ finished). I stitched the butterflies on my embroidery machine. I will link to the instructions and Butterly design file below (in multiple formats) for those of you that have embroidery machines. A 4 x 4″ (100 x 100 mm) or larger hoop works great for this project. It’s perfect for scraps and I love a mini that can be done in a day! The finished size is 13 x 13″, but you can add blocks as you go and make yours as big as you’d like.
You can find all the instructions and downloads in my new Facebook group! I will post the pattern here @ 12 noon MST (AZ) today. It’s free to join this private group. Click the request button and I will add you. I hope to meet you over there, drink some tea together and make pretty things. This pattern will be free to download.
I have a lot of fun content coming up this year – including BIG Christmas projects that I would love to share with you in my new group! Speaking of Christmas … definitely one of my favorite things! And I have a little surprise to tell you soon!! Join me in my group to be the first to hear about all the new things coming this year!
Last thing to share with you today is this sweet baby bib created from the cheater print available in My Favorite Things. I have always adored Amy Sinibaldi’s work and darling patterns. I created this bib using Amy’s ruffle baby bib pattern. Go check out Amy’s precious pattern and make a bib or two for a little one in your life.
I hope you love My Favorite Things! I’ll leave you with a few more photos of prints in this collection.
BIG thank you to shops that will be offering My Favorite Things. If you don’t find a shop in your area, please tag a quilt shop where you’d love to see this collection! I hope this fabric makes you smile and you enjoy making pretty projects. I’d love to see and share what you make – please tag me on Instagram @elealutz or on Facebook.
