Heart Eyes for Sorbet Fabric

Dolly Book· Inspiration

I’ve got my mind on Valentine’s Day and the beautiful new range, Sorbet, by my friend, Leonie Bateman, with Riley Blake Designs. I’m all heart eyes for this darling line (did you happen to catch my earlier post and mouse). The colors, the prints, the vintage-y sweet style. I’ve been a longtime fan of Leonie’s designs and I’m so thrilled to play with her newest range, Sorbet! As a side note: when I get a chance to catch up with Leonie in person at quilt market (she’s from Australia), it’s always a highlight of my trip. Not only is Leonie incredibly talented, but she is a dear and a hoot! Playing with her newest line brought back good memories …

There are so many ideas I’d like make with Sorbet. But, I was stitching another doll lately and this line had me dreaming of a friend for her, especially with the spirit of Valentine’s Day on my mind.

Sorbet has the perfect dash of reds mixed in the beautiful palette of colors, fitting for a Valentine girl. I just love the hint of black and white throughout this collection, too. My Valentine girl got a little red skirt for the season to pair with her collar and black and white shirt. And, I thought her clothes were a sweet match for a strawberry button (but when isn’t it a good time for a strawberry button?)! Then I an idea sparked … how about Dolly Valentines to match? You might recall that my heart skips a beat for little dresses on cards.

So Dolly Valentine’s cards were born. My little Sorbet scraps found a home on some sweet dolly cards I made.

They make me smile and I hope they will make for a few Valentine surprises too.

Thank you to Leonie for creating such beautiful fabric. I am off to dream up more Valentines! xo Elea
