Hope you’re enjoying your summer, friends! I’ve been taking a little down time to be present with my kiddos and family before they head back to school. This has given me some time to sneak away into my sewing room and dream for awhile too. One of the fabric lines I’ve been playing with is by the dear Heidi Staples called, Date Night, for Riley Blake Designs. It’s so beautiful and floral and sweet! It’s been a dream to work with and is absolutely perfect for a butterfly project that’s been floating around in my head.
Heidi’s choice of colors are perfect in this collection! Robin egg blue, sage, mint, pinks … just lovely. And that beautiful speckled print, white with the black dots on the solid background, reminded me so much of shapes and on a butterfly’s wing!
With butterflies on my mind … I started dreaming and sketching what turned into a sweet little butterfly bag with a cross shoulder strap.
And because I love anything that sparkles … I thought a touch of sequin would be really sweet on the wings. Isn’t Date Night just gorgeous and perfect for butterflies, too!
This sweet bag was so much fun to make! I’m already dreaming up lots of new ways to personalize the butterfly. If you’re interested, keep an eye out for the Butterfly bag pattern I’ll be sharing with you soon. The Date Night fabric collection is in shops now and is wonderful collection worth hoarding! I found it hard to make the first cut into my bundle.
Wishing you beautiful, creative summer days!
You are amazing, friend. I adore this little bag!
