Fall is my favorite time of year! I love the changing season and crispness in the air. And I LOVE all the upcoming holidays! With Halloween only a few weeks away, I wanted to create something fun to get in the spirit of the holiday. I am thrilled to share my inspiration on my stop of the Bee Happy Block Party!
I’ve been a longtime admirer of fellow Riley Blake designer, Lori Holt, and all the wonderful patterns and accessories she creates. I was super excited for the opportunity to play with her newest Bee Happy Sew Simple Shapes as part of the Bee Happy Sew Along Lori’s been hosting. Have you been following along on Lori’s blog? My goodness, the quilt and appliqué shapes are just adorable! Here’s what the completed quilt looks like. Seriously …. cute, right?!
I got to thinking about all the wonderful things you can use Lori’s Sew Simple Shapes for, even after the Bee Happy quilt is finished. When I spotted her darling pumpkin shapes in the bunch (can you spot them in the quilt?), I knew they would be wonderful for a little Autumn and Halloween decorating, too!
I decided to swap out the sweet star and heart shape that sit on top of these pumpkins on the Bee Happy quilt for some little faces to make a Halloween-inspired project. Lori has a wonderful tutorial for the pumpkin appliqués on her blog – they are fun and quick to sew!
These pumpkins make me smile as they remind me of my two boys. One of my boys has a more narrow shaped head while the littlest kiddo has a more rounded head. I thought the pumpkins would work perfectly for Trick or Treat bags!
The pumpkin Sew Simple Shapes are a wonderful spark of inspiration to get my Halloween decorating on a roll. I also loved sewing with Lori’s Bee Background fabric (C6383 Orange) and the perfect basic colors by Riley Blake (Swiss Dots C790-110 Black and C670-60 Orange) and darling teeny gingham (C440-60 Orange).
What do you think of this fun skeleton mason jar I picked up at the market the other day? I bought a set of them to serve up some spooky drinks this Halloween. And of course – the fall flowers somehow found their way in my shopping basket, too!
Hope you’re enjoying this beautiful season. Playing with the darling Sew Simple Shapes is so easy and fun … the ideas are endless. Be sure to keep up with all the tutorials and the wonderful Sew Along on Lori’s blog! I’ll see you over there!
Happy fall to you all! xx Elea
